Yup. It’s true. The EdgeRunner is moments away from being available. They say September. And, as unbelievable as this may be, that’s only a month away.

Due to last years limited run, the hype behind the new batch is tremendous. Read: The first container is going to sell fast.

So we’re partnering up with XtraCycle and have set up a pre-order program. Come in, let us know which package you’d like and if there are any particulars you’d prefer. We will then call you the week before they ship (a hard date has not been set yet). We’ll take a deposit and you’ll be rolling in no time.

We’re really excited about these new and updated rigs. And we can’t wait to see a thousand of these roaming the streets of Brooklyn.

Just wanted to let ya’ll know that we’ll be showing the Tour everyday through out the race. We will also be streaming the replay all day. Come on through for some drink specials and some serious heckling.

Here at Red Lantern, we get excited about bikes. I’d even say more than most. What really tickles our pickle, though, are bikes that make us look twice. We get all types of bikes coming through here, so when we stop for a second look, it becomes a special moment because it’s a special bike.

When we opened the box and assembled this XtraCycle EdgeRunner, angels began to sing in our ears. It took us the rest of the day for this bike to settle into our heads. It was like being kissed by someone who has more experienced than you. You let them lead, take it all in, hope it will never end, and spend the rest of the week trying to figure out how the hell they did that.

You all should come by for a test ride. Experience it first hand instead of reading our blabber about it. Come on in and get kissed.

It’s sad to think that all of us have either experienced or know someone who has experienced an accident on their bicycle. Motor vehicles are often major offenders, but there are other events peppered throughout that involve another bike, a pedestrian, or something else entirely. Here at the shop we hear about these unfortunate experiences on a daily basis. You read that correctly: daily.

The hardest part is helping the customer deal with the pain of it all. Both emotionally and physically, there is a sadness that walks in the door with them. Sometimes the event has just happened, just 5 minutes before they’ve arrived. Both traumatized and in shock, we try to talk them through the process of both starting to get over it and dealing with it. Sometimes the accident happened months prior to us meeting them. They’ve come in because they are finally ready to get back in the saddle and move on again.

These moments that we have experienced have inspired us to start up a support group for cyclists who’ve been in an accident. No matter the scale or the number of bones broken or whether you’ve been given the ‘your bike is dead’ speech. Whether you’ve gotten a scratch or a concussion. Whether we’ve replaced your wheel that has been taco’ed. It doesn’t matter. We’ve opened our space to you, every Thursday night at 8:30pm, to… well… just talk about it. Meeting with other people who have been through what you’ve been through is important to the recovery process. We want to provide a chance for you to do that. People will trade stories, trade lawyer’s numbers, or just trade nods and silent support. We want all of you to come by and see and hear and relate to what others have been through.

We just want to wish Gregg and Chloe (fine fine fine custy’s of ours) the best of luck on their trip up north. Upstate, through Canada, and back down into Minnesota. What a trip…

Of course, these crazy cat’s wouldn’t be touring on an any old bike. No, no no. They’ve decided to take the cargo bike and… turn… it… vertical. Through trial and error, lot’s of sit downs with people who know how to do this kinda thing, and many hours at the bike shop (both ours and 718 Cycles), he managed to create not one, but two, fully functional and completely beautiful cargo tall bikes. Well done!

So good luck bozo’s. Have an awesome, completely eventful, and wickedly tall tour!

Just wanted to give all you lucky cyclists who got a ticket to the Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday: Our tune-up list is filling up fast, so get here as early in the week as possible if you plan on getting some work done before the ride. It’s first come first serve, but we plan on throwing as many mechanics at the list as possible. We’ll be working overtime all week to get you out the door and riding before Saturday night.
